SMM News: London May 22 News, the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) released a report on Wednesday showed that the global nickel market supply shortage of 23200 tons from January to March 2019, 2018 full-year supply shortage of 90, 000 tons.
Reported inventories held by (LME) on the London Metal Exchange at the end of March were 23900 tons lower than at the end of last year.
From January to March 2019, global refined nickel production totaled 512000 tons and demand was 535300 tons.
From January to March 2019, the global production of nickel in mines was 534800 tons, an increase of 45000 tons over last year.
The output of China's smelters / refineries increased by 14000 tons compared with the same period last year, and the apparent demand increased by 16000 tons compared with the same period last year.
Global apparent demand increased by 10,000 tons compared with the same period last year. Unreported inventory changes are not included in consumption statistics.
In March 2019, the nickel smelter / refinery produced 177700 tons and consumed 180700 tons.
