Spurred by the news of the past few days, the price of rare earths rose sharply

SMM5 22 month news: stimulated by the news a few days ago, rare earth prices rose sharply. SMM quoted price, praseodymium oxide neodymium oxide 30-305000 yuan / ton, up 27000 yuan / ton compared with the previous trading day. Dysprosium oxide was 190-1.95 million yuan / ton, an increase of 150000 yuan / ton over the previous trading day. Terbium oxide 35. 5-3.6 million yuan / ton, up 100000 yuan / ton. The recent strong rise in medium and heavy rare earths, this week as a result of the downstream permanent magnet industry also joined the hot ranks of the market, praseodymium and neodymium products strongly raised prices, light rare earths and medium and heavy rare earths are expected to continue to maintain a strong trend in the short term, or there is room to continue to rise. Medium and heavy rare earths are mainly supported by the suspension of imports from Myanmar mines, making the market worried about the supply of medium and heavy rare earths in the future, while light rare earth products are driven by good expectations of downstream permanent magnet consumption.

Citic Securities believes that in 2018, China's rare earth imports exceeded 1/3 of the supply at the end of the industry, most of which were imported from Myanmar, which imported about 26000 tons of rare earth minerals in 2018. In terms of rare earth oxides, the output of dysprosium oxide is about 23000 tons, and the output of terbium oxide is about 130tons, accounting for about 40% of the domestic output of dysprosium terbium. It is estimated that this customs closure may make it difficult to import about 20,000 tons of rare earth mines into China this year, that is, the output of dysprosium may drop by 800 tons, the output of terbium may drop by 120 tons, and the supply of dysprosium is expected to decline. Fundamental changes are likely to support rising prices for medium and heavy rare earths.
