SMM News: recently, the price of vinyl carbonate (EC), the raw material for lithium battery electrolyte, continued to rise, rising 2000 yuan / ton to 18000 yuan / ton on Monday. After several weeks of continuous upward movement, the price of the variety has doubled from February.

It is understood that ethylene carbonate is in short supply, strong willingness to push the price, the current price has been much higher than the peak season in the fourth quarter of last year when the price of 12000 yuan / ton. On the demand side, China's electric vehicle industry is showing explosive growth. Lithium battery has a rigid demand for ethylene carbonate. Among the five electrolyte solvents, ethylene carbonate has the highest dielectric constant and low substitution. On the supply side, Jiangsu shut down 35000 tons of ethylene carbonate production capacity due to environmental protection at the end of last year, accounting for more than 30 percent of the industry's production capacity. Recently, some of the production capacity was affected by environmental inspectors and repairs, and the short-term supply was again limited.

Hua Chuang Securities suggests that Shi Dasheng Hua (603026) currently has a capacity of 26000 tons / year of ethylene carbonate.
