According to Mr. Martin Eales, Chief Executive Officer of the Rainbow rare Earth Group of the United Kingdom, who attended the 11th International rare Earth Summit, the Gacala project developed by the Rainbow rare Earth Group in Africa is progressing smoothly. The project is located in Burundi and implements the development plan on the basis of the 25-year mining rights granted to the Rainbow rare Earth Group. After several years of construction, the project has completed the construction and operation of mining and concentrate production facilities. Its products have been exported, with an annual export volume of 4000 to 5000 tons. Rainbow rare Earth Group plans to break even with the project in the second quarter of 2019 and further expand its resource base during the year.
In recent years, there have been more than ten large-scale rare earth projects in southern Africa, but under the influence of the international market environment, most of the projects are stagnant or seeking funds.
