But year-on-year growth slowed from that in Mar

SHANGHAI, May 14 (SMM) – China's sales and production of new-energy vehicles (NEVs) in April continued to increase from a year ago, but the year-on-year growth slowed from that in March, showed data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Monday May 13.

Some 97,000 NEVs, including pure electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid EVs, were sold in April, and 102,000 NEVs were produced. These were up 18.1% and 25%, respectively, from April 2018. The rates lost 67.3 and 63.6 percentage points from that in March.

Sales of pure electric vehicles (EVs) came in at 71,000 units in April, up 9.6% from last year; sales of plug-in hybrid EVs jumped 50.9% from a year ago, to 26,000 units, CAAM data showed.

Separately, sales of fuel cell vehicles shrank 87.5% on the year and registered only 7 units in April, with production dipping 84.5%, to 9 units.

Data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed on Friday May 10 that passenger car sales have decreased for the 11th consecutive month in April, on a yearly basis.
