Zinc social inventories dip over weekend

Stocks declined 2,400 mt from May 10 to stand at 160,800 mt as of May 13

SHANGHAI, May 13 (SMM) – Social inventories of refined zinc across Shanghai, Guangdong and Tianjin dipped over the weekend, declining 2,400 mt from Friday May 10 to stand at 160,800 mt as of Monday May 13, SMM data showed.

The inventories lost 9,100 mt from Monday May 6.

Stocks of refined zinc are expected to fall slower in anticipation of greater production across smelters.

Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin expanded 13,600 mt from last Friday July 23 to 172,600 mt as of July 30. This was up 6,500 mt from Monday July 26 and registered a new high since October 2014.
