SHANGHAI, May 9 (SMM) – Excavator sales in China grew 6.96% from a year ago to stand at 28,410 units in April, according to data from China Construction Machinery Association.
Some 26,373 excavators were sold domestically, up 5.31% year on year. Exports expanded 34.19% from a year ago to stand at 2,037 units.
The year-over-year growth in April was much smaller than the first three months of the year, at 10%, 65% and 15.7%, respectively.
This slowed the growth in year-to-date sales to 19.13%, with the top 25 excavator makers selling a total of 103,200 units in January-April. Sales in January-March were up 24.5% year on year.
Sales of digging machines are usually driven by growth in mining and infrastructure development.
