Higher SHFE/LME price ratio lowers aluminium exports in Apr

China exported 498,000 mt of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products in Apr, down 48,000 mt from 546,000 mt in Mar

SHANGHAI, May 8 (SMM) – China’s exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products fell in April as the ratio of Shanghai aluminium prices to London prices climbed.

According to data from China Customs released on Wednesday May 7, China exported 498,000 mt of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products in April, down 48,000 mt from 546,000 mt in March. April’s exports rose 10.4% from a year ago.

Exports in January-April amounted to 1.94 million mt, up 12.9% year on year.
