Shanxi Chinalco Huarun to commission more capacity for aluminium alloy

Capacity of the 92 electrolytic baths totals 125,000 mt

SHANGHAI, May 8 (SMM) – To push a full production of its phase-one aluminium alloy project, Shanxi Chinalco Huarun is set to commission 52 more electrolytic baths in mid- to late- June, after it put 40 electrolytic baths into use on April 22, SMM learned on Wednesday May 8. 

Capacity of the 92 electrolytic baths totals 125,000 mt. The project enjoys a preferential electricity price of 0.286 yuan/kWh till August 31. The prices will be no higher than 0.3 yuan/kWh from September. 

SMM learned that there is more capacity in the pipeline, with construction likely to complete by the end of this year.  

Designed with an annual capacity of 430,000 mt aluminium alloy, the phase-one project started in May of 2018, and operated under one-fourth of the capacity.
