Steelmakers lower silico-manganese purchasing price for May tenders

HBIS Group settled its purchasing price for 6517 materials at 7,600 yuan/mt, down 250 yuan/mt from Apr

SHANGHAI, May 5 (SMM) – Most steelmakers in China lowered the purchasing price of silico-manganese alloys for their May tenders, SMM research found.

China's biggest steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group (HBIS Group) earlier this week settled its purchasing price for 6517 materials at 7,600 yuan/mt, down 250 yuan/mt from the price for April tender.

HBIS Group would procure 29,490 mt of 6517 silico-manganese in its May tender, up 5,800 mt from April.

Kunming Iron & Steel Group (KISC) also set its purchasing price for 6517 silico-manganese at 7,600 yuan/mt, with procurement volume at 1,300 mt, in its May tender. KISC purchased 4,465 mt of silico-manganese at 7,740 yuan/mt in April.

Zhejiang Yuanli Steel also lowered its purchasing price for silico-manganese in May, down 310 yuan/mt to 7,740 yuan/mt, with procurement volume unchanged at 3,000 mt.
