SMM1, 30 January: the KGHM Polska Miedz Rudna copper mine was hit by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday afternoon.

The company has not reported whether the earthquake had any impact on subsequent mining.

KGHM 2018 production in the first three quarters:

Total copper production at KGHM fell 7 per cent to 465000 tonnes in the first three quarters of 2018 compared with the same period a year earlier, mainly due to the maintenance shutdown of concentrate foundry equipment at Polska Miedz's G og ó w copper smelter.

Copper production at Robinson Copper and KGHM International in the first three quarters was the same as the previous year, and copper production fell slightly in the third quarter, mainly due to declining ore quality and reduced mining at Robinson Copper Mine.

Copper production at the Sierra Gorda copper mine declined in the first three quarters due to a decline in metal content in the ore.

Full year 2018 production has not yet been announced, please follow up on the SMM report.
