Orion Mining announced on Wednesday that it had discovered a new zinc and copper resource near the Prieska project in the Northern Cape Province.
Areachap Belt is the basic metal belt in the northern province. VMS refers to the "volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit", a mineral deposit that may contain metals such as copper, zinc, lead and gold.
The Australia-based company is listed on both the Japanese Stock Exchange and the Australian Stock Exchange. In its announcement, the company said it had upgraded the valuation of Prieska zinc and copper resources to more than 30 million tons.
Smart said that the feasibility study of Orion is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2019.
"while our engineering and development teams are focused on project delivery, our exploration team will look for a number of emerging opportunities in the exploration area-building a growth pipeline that can take advantage of the infrastructure we have built at Prieska," he said. "
