Coravasi is considering building a pipeline to transport the rest of the seawater from the desalination plant in (Quebrada Blanca) in Tecker Brenda Blanca to his own mine as a backup resource.

At a time of growing water shortages, Chile is the world's largest copper producer.
At the end of December, Coravasi, one of Chile's largest mines by production, submitted to the local authorities an expansion plan of $3.2 billion, bringing its annual production to 710000 tons. Last month, Teck teamed up with (Sumitomo Metal Mining), a Japanese Sumitomo metals mining company, and Sumitomo (Sumitomo Corp) to increase the annual production of its aging Quebrada Blanca copper mine to 300000 tons from 23400 tons in 2017.
