SMM1, July 7: the country cut its cobalt production forecast for the first nine months of 2018 to 81292 tons from 115116 tons earlier, according to data released by the central bank (Democratic Republic of Congo) on Friday. The revision means cobalt production, an important part of electric vehicle batteries, is up 35.9 per cent from the same period in 2017, rather than the 92.5 per cent the bank had previously said. The bank also raised its copper production forecast for the first nine months of 2018 to 911505 tons from 908695 tons.
