SMM12, 21 Feb: Canada has eased pressure on domestic aluminum and steelmakers to impose tariffs on the United States by reducing import surtaxes on two products, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a press release on Wednesday. The Canadian government supports Canada's steel and aluminum industries, as well as Canadian workers and enterprises, "the release said. "as part of its ongoing efforts, the government today announced new target surtax breaks for imported steel and aluminum products."

The import surtax cuts announced on Wednesday are a continuation of Ottawa's response to support for Canadian producers and manufacturers, and the Canadian government is working to completely abolish U. S. tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum.
