SMM12, 19 March: Indonesian state-owned mining company PT Inalum is expected to complete a deal this week to gain majority control of the local division of global mining giant Freeport McMoRan Inc, the chief executive of Inalum said on Tuesday. Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the deal would end "hopefully this week", adding that the conclusion looked "likely". Inalum plans to sell a 10 per cent stake in PT Freeport Indonesia to Papua, Indonesia's largest Grasberg mining province, for $819 million, he said.
