Peruvian gold, silver and copper production have all declined

SMM12, March 3: gold production in Peru fell 6.3 per cent in the 10th month of this year compared with October 2017, according to the latest statistical report from the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mining. Despite the fact that Minera Yanacocha is the leading gold producer, production increased by 8.1 per cent. On the other hand, copper production fell 3.8 per cent in October from a year earlier, silver 9.1 per cent, zinc 7.9 per cent and lead 8.4 per cent. On the bright side, although production fell after 17 days of strikes by Shougang HierroPer ú workers demanding higher wages, MEM reported a 66.8 per cent increase in iron ore production. Mo also rose 20.6% in October 2018, mainly due to positive figures from Compa ñ aMineraCerro Verde, Southern Copper and Antamina. Finally, due to increased production at the San Rafael mine in Minsur, western Puno, the ministry announced a 5.4 per cent year-on-year increase in tin production in October.
