SMM10 31 -: Antofagasta Plc CEO Arriagada (Ivan Arriagada) said in an interview with Bloomberg Television (Bloomberg Television) on Wednesday that the weakness in copper prices is short-term and is due to concerns about the risks of weak global trade and global economic growth.
"A trade war is not good for emerging economies-it is not good for commodities and it is not good for global prosperity," Mr Arriagada said.
China's copper demand will grow by more than 5 per cent this year, and the power grid has rebounded recently, driven by government stimulus measures. But copper mergers and acquisitions are not active because high-quality assets have not been traded.
A trade war means that investors are "often too cautious" in investing in growth projects.
