SMM10, 25 Feb: Lynas will need to reduce production of rare earths for the rest of 2018 if it does not obtain regulatory approval in the short term to remove the annual processing cap at its Malaysian plant, Lynas said in a statement on Thursday. The Government of Malaysia is currently conducting an assessment of Lynas's operations, including its impact on public health and the environment. The government review committee will visit the Lynas plant early next month. The company will continue to engage with the government to seek further details of the review committee and related regulatory issues.
