The only smelter-grade alumina refinery in Indonesia has a production capacity of 2 million tons

SMM10, 23 March: an Indonesian enterprise representative said in an interview with domestic media last week that PT Well Harvest Winning (WHW), Indonesia's only smelting grade alumina (SGA) refinery, has produced more than 2 million tons of aluminum precursors since it went into production in June 2016.

Oggy a., Managing Director of Inalum "so far, we have been importing alumina to produce aluminum ingots," Kosasih said in a previous press statement.

He went on to say that in order to produce 250000 tons of raw aluminum, the company needs twice as much smelting grade alumina. Although Inalum has a ready supply of alumina, the company is planning to open its own smelter in the next few years. The company plans to invest $850 million in the project and is expected to start production in 2021.

Well Harvest Winning is made up of China's Hongqiao Group Limited and Jakarta's PT.. A joint venture between Harita Jaya Raya and Winning International Group of Singapore.
