SMM, Sept. 19: the Sebree smelter, owned by century aluminum company (Century Aluminum) in western Kentucky, produces 218000 tons of aluminum a year, a union official said Tuesday. Employees of the company have agreed to sign a new labor agreement with the Chicago-based company for a period of five years.

Century Aluminum officials declined to comment on Tuesday's email about the new contract. The new contract covers about 500 union workers. Contact with local union president Andy Thompson (Andy Thompson) also did not respond to the news. But union officials said the company could issue a production announcement soon.
