SMM8, March 30-Indian Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh said MOIL, the state-owned manganese mining company, is looking to develop high-quality manganese batteries that can be used in electric vehicles (EV).

The electricity ministry said earlier that the government was considering subsidies under the policy to build charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

However, electricity Minister AK Bhalla believes this is a chicken and egg situation, because without enough electric vehicles, there will be no charging stations, and unless there are enough facilities to charge these vehicles, sales of electric vehicles will not increase.

To promote electric vehicles, the government launched the Indian Hybrid and Electric vehicle (FAME India) program in 2015 for faster adoption and manufacture.

Under the plan, bicycles will be provided with up to 29000 rupees of electric and hybrid cars and 13800 rupees of cars.

Last week, Essel Infraprojects said it planned to invest 1750m rupees in phases to build an electric vehicle charging and battery exchange infrastructure.

Singh also pointed out that in the field of metals, India is strengthening its position every year. "with regard to the steel industry, with the joint efforts of the government and the industry, this is a model of transformation and transformation," he said. India's steel industry has come a long way since the recession, and we are on the verge of becoming the second largest steel producer in 2018. "
