SMM, Aug. 17, Alcoa official website announcement shows that negotiations with Australian trade unions on the enterprise negotiation agreement (Enterprise Bargaining Agreement) will continue, later this month will vote on this agreement. During the same period, the production of Alcoa's alumina plant in Australia was not affected during the cycle of negotiations and workers' strikes because Alcoa had contingency plans ahead of time.

(Alcoa) hopes to continue to attract and retain employees, so the company offers workers new corporate negotiation agreements and provides additional income growth in addition to the workers' already competitive pay and conditions.

The agreement also includes better terms than other companies on the market, such as 14% of pension contributions and long-term sick leave benefits.

The terms of the new corporate agreement also retain many of the original provisions, including 36 hours of work a week and extra income from shifts.

The deal is designed to address employees' concerns about job safety, including a commitment to call for voluntary layoffs rather than forced layoffs in the event of a need to change the workforce.

"We encourage our employees to carefully consider our generous offer and actively comment on the agreement," Alcoa said. Our website has contingency plans to ensure that production is not significantly affected.

So far, AWU production has not been significantly affected, and the company is very grateful to the employees who maintain safe operations.

Background:

For the past 18 months, Alcoa has been working with elected representatives of AWU to establish a new corporate negotiation agreement, (EBA), for its Western Australia operations.

During this period, Alcoa participated in more than 50 AWU meetings and two mediation processes at AWU, assisted by the Vice-Chairman of the Fair work Commission.

In spite of our efforts, we failed to reach an agreement with the union.

Alcoa hopes to build a modern EBA, to provide employees with competitive compensation and conditions, to manage our operations efficiently and efficiently, and to cope with changing market and operating conditions.

AWU EBA employs approximately 1500 people in Alcoa's Western Australia mining and smelting business. Alcoa employs more than 3750 people directly in Washington State, including more than 2000 in the Peel area, and pays A $635 million a year in wages, salaries and benefits.

The company invests about A $1.4 billion a year in operating and capital expenditures in Western Australia and pays about A $400m in state and federal taxes.
