China installs 5.2GW of solar power capacity in Q1

This brought China’s cumulative solar capacity up to 180 GW

SHANGHAI, Apr 30 (SMM) – China installed a total of 5.2 gigawatts (GW) of solar PV capacity in the first three months of 2019, the National Energy Administration said on Monday April 29.

Centralised solar accounted for 2.4 GW while distributed solar took up for 2.8 GW.

This brought China’s cumulative solar capacity up to 180 GW.

China also added 0.29 GW worth of hydropower and 4.78 GW worth of wind power capacity in the first quarter.

By the end of March, China’s power generation capacity with renewable resources amounted to 740 GW.
