Limited arrivals, pre-holiday stockpiling extend declines in primary aluminium stocks

Stocks dropped 43,000 mt from Apr 25 to stand at 1.47 million mt as of Apr 29

SHANGHAI, Apr 29 (SMM) – Primary aluminium stocks in China continued to fall over the weekend, as buyers stockpiled for the upcoming Labour Day holiday and as limited cargoes arrived.

SMM data showed that social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, dropped 43,000 mt from Thursday April 25 to stand at 1.47 million mt as of Monday April 29.

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 532,000 mt

Shanghai – 285,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 323,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 107,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 115,000 mt

Tianjin – 58,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 22,000 mt

Chongqing –28,000 mt
