Codelco's Chuquicamata Copper Union is expected to hold formal talks next week

SMM8, March 3 / PRNewswire-Asianet / Cecilia Gonz á lez (Cecilia Gonzalez), chief executive of Chile's Codelco Copper Chuquicamata Copper Mine, said in an interview that a union representing the company's about 4600 workers is expected to sign a joint statement with Codelco next week. The talks will begin soon. The two sides will set up a committee to negotiate the transition from an open-pit mine to an underground mine model. The unions hope they will not be forced to stop work again.

Cecilia Gonzalez, chief executive of Chuquicamata Copper, is satisfied with the peace talks.
