Production of copper products in China rose 14.2% from a year ago to stand at 1.56 million mt in Mar

SHANGHAI, Apr 19 (SMM) – Production of copper products in China rose 14.2% from a year ago to stand at 1.56 million mt in March, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

This brought output of copper products in January-March up 14.4% year on year to 3.66 million mt.

NBS also said that China’s production of copper cathode stood at 710,000 mt last month, up 10.2% from a year earlier. Production of copper cathode in the first three months of the year gained 8.8% on a yearly basis to stand at 2.05 million mt.

Production of room air-conditioners, a major consumer of copper, grew 13.3% year on year to 52 million units in January-March, with production in March rising 22.3% to 24.07 million units.
