SHANGHAI, Apr 11 (SMM) – Restrictions on electricity supply in some northern areas of China from the latter half of April are likely to tighten the supply of silico-manganese alloy and bolster prices, an SMM survey found on Thursday April 11.
The looming electricity supply cuts helped stem the decline in prices of #6517 silico-manganese alloy in Inner Mongolia, which averaged 7,700 yuan/mt on Thursday April 11, ex-works on acceptance and including value-added tax of 13%. This was flat from Wednesday April 10, after slid some 50 yuan/mt week on week on Monday April 8.
Producers of silico-manganese alloy in the north are likely to receive the notice of power cuts on April 16, SMM learned.
Separately, offers of manganese ore from traders declined some 0.5 yuan/mtu on Thursday April 11 as profits at downstream alloy producers narrowed.
