Shanghai offers trade-in deals to eliminate old vehicles

Industry News 12:11:03PM Apr 11, 2019 Source:SMM

SHANGHAI, Apr 11 (SMM) – Shanghai launched a trade-in programme to accelerate the phasing-out of old vehicles with poor emission standards, and to promote the use of new energy vehicles (NEVs), the Shanghai Municipal Economic and Informatisation Commission said on Wednesday April 10.

Car owners can trade in their old vehicles for a subsidy of 10,000 yuan/unit to purchase new fuel vehicles with higher emission standards, and for a subsidy of 15,000 yuan/unit to purchase NEVs.

The measures will also rejuvenate China's car market, after the retail sales of passenger vehicles fell for the first time in 20 years in 2018
