Operating rates across Chinese copper rod plants are likely to rise considerably in Mar, ahead of lower VATs on Apr 1

SHANGHAI, Apr 4 (SMM) – SMM assessed processing charges of 8mm copper rods for electrical applications in the eastern Chinese market at 600-750 yuan/mt in March, and charges of copper rods for manufacturing enamelled wire at 750-900 yuan/mt in the east. Both remained flat from February.

Operating rates across Chinese copper rod plants are likely to rise considerably in March, as those producers moved up a gear ahead of lower VATs took effect on April 1, SMM expects.
