Report: Tongwei Solar to build world's 1st 10GW battery base by year-end

The Chinese PV manufacturer started construction of its 3.8GW crystalline silicon battery project at Chengdu base on Mar 23

SHANGHAI, Mar 26 (SMM) – China's PV manufacturer Tongwei Solar started to construct its phase-four crystalline silicon battery project, with a capacity of 3.8GW, at its Chengdu base in Sichuan province on Saturday March 23, according to a news release on the company's website. 

With an investment of over 2 billion yuan, the project is scheduled to commission within this year, bringing the Chengdu base into the world's first 10GW battery base.

The project features unmanned production lines, intelligent factories, and digital workshops, equipped with warehouse logistics facilities. 

By the end of this year, the total capacity of Tongwei Solar, including its Chengdu and Hefei bases will exceed 20GW.
