SHANGHAI, Mar 20 (SMM) – Taiyuan in China's northern province of Shanxi, close to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei areas, extended its yellow alert for smog till CST 24:00 on Friday March 22, according to a notice by the Taiyuan environmental protection bureau on Tuesday March 19.
The level III emergency warning against heavy air pollution was originally scheduled to end on Tuesday March 19.
Under the yellow alert, local industrial producers will face more frequent inspections from authorities. Heavy industries will also be required to cut or suspend capacity.
