SHANGHAI, Mar 6 (SMM) – China's motorcycle market continued to drop with both production and sales extending their declines in January, showed the latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
In January, domestic production of motorcycles totalled 1.15 million units, down 14.35% from December and down 22.7% from January 2018. Overall sales in January shrank 11.97% on the month, and dipped 20.73% on the year, to stand at 1.17 million units.
CAAM data also showed that domestic production of motorcycles came in at 15.58 million units in 2018, down 9.15% from 2017, and overall sales shrank 9.13% year on year to 15.57 million units.
China's tougher vehicle emission standards upgraded product structures of motorcycles, but lowered overall production and sales of the vehicle, SMM learned.
