SHANGHAI, Feb 27 (SMM) – Industrial plants in China's major coal mining hub, Shanxi province, are likely to face production restrictions as heavy air pollution is expected in the mid-eastern and southern area of the province in the week to March 2, the Environmental Monitoring Centre of Shanxi Province said on Wednesday February 27.
Environmental authorities warned that unfavourable weather conditions between February 26 and March 2 will prevent air pollutants from dispersing, leading to heavy smog in cities of Linfen, Yuncheng, Jincheng, Changzhi, Taiyuan, Yangquan, and Xinzhou.
Smog will be at its worst on March 1, with the hourly peak concentration of the major air pollutant PM2.5 likely reaching 200-250 μg/m³ in Linfen city.
Rainy weather from March 2 will ease air pollution of the province.
