SHANGHAI, Feb 25 (SMM) – Construction of a primary aluminium project at Yunnan Qiya Metals has started as of Monday February 25, a source told SMM.
With a full capacity of 800,000 mt, the project will initially commission 100,000 mt of capacity by the end of this year. The project enjoys a preferential electricity price of 0.25 yuan/kWh.
SMM also learned that, another aluminium producer in the province, Yunnan Aluminium’s primary aluminium projects in Zhaotong and Heqing cities, named Haixin and Yixin Aluminium respectively, are likely to set their electricity prices at 0.32-0.35 yuan/kWh after negotiation with the local government.
