Hebei’s Handan city escalates smog-alert

This is the first time this year that the city issued a red alert for heavy pollution
SHANGHAI, Feb 21 (SMM) – Handan city of Hebei province escalated the smog-alert from orange to red at CST 8:00 on Thursday February 21.
This is the first time this year that the city issued a red alert for heavy pollution. It remains unknown when the alert will be lifted.
Under a red alert, heavy industries will have to suspend or cut production.
SMM learned that manufacturers of galvanised tubes across the city have stopped production.
