Yadelin Science and Technology to build 100,000 mt aluminium alloy capacity

Operating rates of major aluminium processors dropped 0.6 percentage point last week, mainly due to decline in operating rates of primary and secondary aluminium alloy enterprises.

Volkswagen announced in March that it had cut production by more than 100,000 vehicles in January and February due to the lack of chips. Honda Motor announced that its Mexican plant would cease production from March 18. General Motors announced the temporary closure of its plant in Lansing, Michigan, and it was expected that it would not restart operations before April this year.

SHFE nonferrous metals declined broadly on Friday January 22. Copper fell 0.61%, zinc slumped 2.51%, lead shed 0.66% and nickel weakened 1.13%, while aluminium edged up 0.1% and tin rose 1.83%. 

Shanghai base metals traded mixed on Friday morning as traders monitored the European Central Bank's latest meeting and the beginning of Joe Biden's presidency. Meanwhile, their counterparts on the LME also set for a mixed start.
