Surveyed steelmakers in the north planned to produce 1.44 million mt of rebar this month, which accounted for the overall increase

SHANGHAI, Feb 14 (SMM) – Scheduled output of rebar in February across 31 major producers of long steel is expected to increase 1.04% from the actual output in January and stand at 7.62 million mt, an SMM survey showed.

Surveyed steelmakers in the north planned to produce 1.44 million mt of rebar this month, up 16.99% from the actual production in January, and this accounted for the overall increase in scheduled output.

Profits drove a major steel mill in Tangshan to raise production of rebar at the expense of hot-rolled coil in February, SMM learned.

Scheduled output of wire rods at surveyed mills is likely to dip 3% from the realised output in January, to 2.82 million mt in February.

Rebar output for domestic sales is planned at 7.32 million mt in February, up 0.7% month on month, and exports are also likely to increase by 10% to 298,000 mt.
