China's mobile phone output dips 4.1% in 2018: MIIT

Production of smartphone slid 0.6% on the year

SHANGHAI, Feb 2 (SMM) – China's production of mobile phone shrank 4.1% year on year in 2018, with smartphone output down 0.6% on the year, according to a release by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Saturday February 2. 

In the release about China’s manufacturing industry of electronic and information product in 2018, profits of industrial enterprises above a designated size decreased 3.1% from 2017. 

Revenue from main businesses of communication equipment manufacturing industry increased 9.6% year on year in 2018, but profits dipped by 11.8%, due to a high base in 2017. 

On a yearly basis, China’s output of electronic components rose 12.0% in 2018; production of integrated circuits jumped 9.7%.
