China's stainless steel output rises 3.62% in 2018: CSSC

Production of all four types of stainless steel increased on the year

SHANGHAI, Jan 28 (SMM) – China's production of crude stainless steel totalled 26.71 million mt in 2018, up 3.62%, or 933,100 mt from 2017, according to data released by the Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association (CSSC) on Friday January 25. 

Production of all four types of stainless steel increased on the year. 

Output of the chromium-manganese 200 series stainless steel climbed 375,300 mt from 2017, to 8.26 million mt in 2018. Production of the chromium-nickel 300 series rose 100,000 mt to 12.82 million mt, and the chromium 400 series accumulated 399,000 mt to 5.47 million mt. Production of duplex stainless steel gained 58,701 mt to 160,660 mt last year.
