SHANGHAI, Jan 25 (SMM) – China's northern province of Hebei plans to establish a special fund for the restoration and management of provincial-level mines, in order to address pollution of local open-pit mines and improve ecological environment of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, according to a news release on the website of Hebei government on January 23.
Inactive and abandoned mines will be subsided by 11,500 yuan/mu. Half of the subsidies will be offered at the start of the year, and full subsidies are provided based on the result of restoration work at the year-end.
The government also urged all large and medium-sized mines in Hebei to meet local environmental standards by 2020.
