Slowest growth in China’s PPI since Sep 2016

The PPI rose 0.9% year on year in Dec, the lowest since Sep 2016

SHANGHAI, Jan 10 (SMM) – China’s producer price index (PPI), which measures price increases before they are passed onto consumers, rose 0.9% year on year in December, the lowest gain since September 2016, according to data released on Thursday January 10 by the National Bureau of Statistics.

The consumer price index (CPI), a gauge of prices of consumer goods and services, expanded 1.9% on the year and stood below 2% for the first time in six months.

For 2018, the CPI grew 2.1%, 0.5 percentage point faster than 2017, while the PPI expanded 3.5%.
