Nickel ore inventories at Chinese ports decline on week

Inventories shrank 260,000 wmt from a week ago to 13.62 million wmt as of Friday Jan 4

SHANGHAI, Jan 4 (SMM) – Nickel ore inventories across all Chinese ports shrank 260,000 wmt from a week ago to stand at 13.62 million wmt as of Friday January 4, SMM data showed.

In metal content, stocks declined 2,200 mt for the same week and came in at some 114,000 mt.

Stocks across seven major Chinese ports decreased by 150,000 wmt to 10.56 million wmt.

Aperam, the Luxembourg-based stainless steel manufacturer, has raised alloy surcharges for its European austenitic flat products for April 2026. Key adjustments include: Grade 304 rose to EUR 2,211/ton (from EUR 2,151); Grade 316L surged to EUR 3,807/ton (from EUR 3,653); Grade 309S reached EUR 2,982/ton; and ferritic Grade 409 increased to EUR 898/ton.
