Exports of silicon metal tumble 17% in Nov

China exported 60,000 mt of silicon metal in Nov, down 16.7% month on month and 20.1% year on year

SHANGHAI, Jan 3 (SMM) – China's exports of silicon metal in November fell 16.7% on the month and 20.1% on the year, showed data from China Customs. Exports in November stood at 60,000 mt.

In January-November, exports amounted to 790,000 mt, some 5.7% higher than the same period of 2017, with monthly exports averaging 72,000 mt.

The silicon market was on a stable and rising trend in June. A fire broke out in a workshop of an organic silicon factory in Xinjiang on June 8. Market transactions were active in the fear of a reduction in silicon metal production.
