SHANGHAI, Jan 3 (SMM) – Six manganese mines in Chongqing’s Xiushan county received the greenlight to resume operation after they shut for production safety checks for about a month, according to a notice by local authorities on Wednesday January 2.
Manganese mines in the Xiushan area suspended at the start of December, which forced some local manganese producers to purchase ore beyond the region.
Higherd costs drove a manganese producer to cut output to 60 mt per day.
Output recovery at mines is set to ease tight ore supply across the region and lower costs at manganese producers.
