SHANGHAI, Dec 25 (SMM) – Tangshan Stainless Steel plans to replace obsolete capacity in urban plants with new capacity in rural areas of Caofeifdian, with a replacement ratio of 1.25:1, according to a notice on the website of Industry and Information Technology Department of Hebei Province on December 24.
Construction of new capacity is scheduled to start in March, and is targeted to commission at the end of 2020. Some 2.57 million mt of iron-making capacity and 1.69 million mt of steelmaking capacity will be eliminated during the period.
When new capacity commissions, a blast furnace of 2,400 m³ and a converter of 120 mt will be in place, according to the notice.
