SHANGHAI, Dec 19 (SMM) – As the market awaited purchasing prices to finalise across downstream tenders, spot prices of metallurgical-grade silicon remained unchanged on the morning of Wednesday December 19. Prices of some chemical-grade silicon products extended their declines after long-term contracts were signed.

This week, some large aluminium alloy plants began monthly tenders for January , with smaller purchasing volumes in the low season. Purchasing prices are likely to remain in line with current spot prices, SMM believes.

On Wednesday December 19 at Huangpu port, spot prices of non-oxygen #553 silicon stood flat from a week ago at 11,300-11,400 yuan/mt; prices of #421 silicon dipped 50 yuan/mt from December 18, to 13,100-13,400 yuan/mt, SMM assessed.
