Dutch energy storage and battery company Lithium Werks and the government of Jiashan county of Zhejiang province on December 1 held the signing ceremony for a battery factory project that was agreed on during Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to the Netherlands in October.
Lithium Werks will invest 1.6 billion euros to build a 60-hectare factory that will produce 8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of batteries per year.
Construction is expected to start in the first half of next year and the factory is expected to be commissioned at the beginning of 2021.
