Some 32,000 mt of copper scrap imports approved in 24th batch

This brought total approved copper scrap imports this year to 980,600 mt

SHANGHAI, Nov 16 (SMM) – Some 32,816 mt of copper scrap, across 13 companies, received the green light in the 24th and latest batch of approvals for restricted solid scrap imports, according to the release by the solid waste management centre of China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) on November 16. 

The 24th batch of approvals brought total approved copper scrap imports this year to 980,600 mt, down some 67.38% from the volumes approved in 11 batches last year.

The 13 companies that received approvals are located in Tianjin, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Zhejiang. China will officially ban the import of Category Seven copper by the end of this year.
