Maintenance, poor profits weigh on Oct operating rate at zinc mines

Domestic mines operated at 77.4% in Oct

SHANGHAI, Nov 16 (SMM) – High treatment charges lowered profits at domestic zinc mines, who lowered operating rates to 77.4% in October, an SMM survey found.

The rate stood 4.9 percentage points lower from September. Regular maintenance at some large mines also accounted for the lower operating rate.

Separately, domestic production of zinc concentrate registered at 361,900 mt in October, SMM data showed.
